Revolver Party - Friday night, December 02, 2005 Art Basel

I meant to post this several months ago but I have been working so much I have had little time for sleep and no less posting. Now that things have slowed down I will try to catch up. I'll start with some pictures from Art Basel Miami Beach 2005. Yes, ok that was in December but I'll catch up to the present, quick, I hope.

Documentation of FUFI FUFI Ice Cream Truck - Art Basel

On Friday, December 2nd, I finally ran into the FUFI FUFI ice cream truck. Their hard work really paid off. The truck looked great and the product was top shelf.

Miami PAC can't take the heat?

Look, it is one thing not to hire someone because you don't want to hire them. But, to hire someone and then, after they have given their two weeks to not hire them because, god forbid, they wrote something critical of that public organization. Why don't arts organizations understand blogging? is it that hard to understand this new printing press? Miami needs this Performing Arts Center but it would be nice it were run a little more professionally. Let's just hope it get finished "on time," whenever that is.

MOSAIC in the Design District

MOSAIC was one on the many Miami Design District collaborative art shows that sprouted during Art Basel. There was lots of work from China including a foam pit.

Art Basel Miami Beach - Containers

I made it to a few of the Containers or Art Positions, as they like to call them, over this past weekend. I couldn't make it too all of them because they closed on as I was walking around–some party. Of the ones, I visited I found them only marginally better then last year. Overall, I think a gallery needs more space to display their art. People never like bumping into people. It just turns them off and when the container is three people wide, this happens too frequently. Anyway, here are the highlights:

The M/M Paris Container was one of my favorites. Many will write them off because they are "Graphic Design" and not Art but to me they are of a higher caliber then the rest of the lots. If anyone knows where I can get a hold of one of those posters, please write me.

Just outside the Containers, there was a crushed airplane sculpture by someone named Adel Abdessemed.

I have several more photosets this is only a part 1 of day 1. Stay tuned for updates coming all week.
