Miami Art Museum: The Machine, the Body and the City

I am excited to announce, although already a week overdue, that I have been included in an exhibition at the Miami Art Museum entitled: Miami Art Museum: The Machine, the Body and the City. It's a great show and even if I were not in it, I would recommend it to any fan of photography.

There isn't too much about it online at this point but there is a write up in the Miami Herald and V Magazine.

I would like to thank guest curator, Andy Grundberg, Peter Boswell Senior Curator at MAM and Charles Cowles for his contributions to the Miami Art Museum.

The exhibition will be up until April 15, 2007 in MAM's Plaza Level Gallery.

LA Light

A few weeks ago, when I was out in LA I couldn't get over the epic light. I felt like everything was photographically apocalyptic because of the mad, mad light. There were cinematic moments all around me especially around the magic hour on my last day when I found this moment unfolding right in front of me.

My last Day in Los Angeles a few weeks ago I fought LA traffic for nearly 2 hours, Santa Monica to Chinatown. What a mission. After the stopping and starting I arrived to meet up with Matt Chambers an old friend from School in Miami. Tod Papageorge in BOMB

There is a nice interview with Tod Papageorge in BOMB this month. I wasn't too familar with his work only of his leadership role at Yale's Photography program. I look forward to checking out his book. Its also always interesting to see another photographer's view on something so close to your own experience, in this case, Central Park.

Lost in LA, (NY and Philly)

Last week I traveled out to LA, NY, and Philadelphia on work. I had a bit of free time to explore LA and Philadelphia more then I have in many years. LA surprised me a lot of my old West cost thoughts were wrong (except for the traffic and the smog) Santa Monica to China Town in 2 hours? Can't see the Mountains but there are no clouds? LA is a very photographic city and I almost want to live there just to photograph it, but I digress... I will try an post some pictures from the trip this week. Sometime after the election.

Locust Projects annual fundraiser 2006

Tomorrow is the annual fundraiser for Miami cutting edge space Locust Projects. I participated last year and the show was very fun with people racing around to get their favorite artwork after their names are drawn at random. See flyer below.
