BLOCKBOARD — company portrait headshots

September 12, 2024 in my pictures, portraits

Recently, Kempner Communications invited me to make portraits of Blockboard's staff. Blockboard is a blockchain-driven ad tech company. Put simply—Blockboard uses blockchain technology to ensure that the digital ads companies pay for are actually shown to real viewers. Imagine watching an ad on YouTube—Blockboard's system logs this on the blockchain, providing a verifiable record of the ad running. This level of transparency in digital ads wasn’t always possible. Especially compared to something like a Super Bowl ad, where everyone can visibly see the ad when it airs.

Blockboard's employees aren’t always in the same city, but we scheduled the shoot while they had an in-person meeting in their Midtown office. On the shoot day, my tech, Este, and I assembled a small studio space in one of their conference rooms. We set up a 5 ft octa as the primary light, paired with two background strobes, creating a clean, professional look. One of my favorite parts of a shoot like this is meeting everyone and working with all the different personalities to get a professional portrait made as efficiently as possible. With Este's help, we were able to photograph 25 portraits.

Check out a selection above!

#sears department store officially closed last year. This #flatbush #brooklyn location built 1932 is an #Art Deco relic, a bygone era, and thankfully a protected city landmark.

I wonder what will become of it. Hopefully someone will make better use

I wonder what will become of it. Hopefully someone will make better use of it’s massive parking lot. The city should carve out some of it into a park. 👍🏻
